Details

White Sands National Monument hosts the largest pure gypsum dune field in the world. Bleached Earless Lizards, Cowles Prairie Lizards, other lizards, darkling beetles, birds, pocket mice, kangaroo rats, kit fox, oryx are a few of the creatures found at the dunes. Recreational opportunities include bicycling, camping, photography, picnicking, sledding, stargazing, backpacking.
